Brief Statement: TheWCC has two championships and
marketing internships available for the 2002-2003 academic
year beginning June/July 2002. These are 12-month paid internships
(compensation is $1,300 per month). Successful applicants
must be willing to work full-time (40+ hours per week) and
have strong organizational, communication and computer skills.
Applicants must have a positive attitude, a strong drive to
complete all assigned task, and be comfortable working independently
to meet conference deadlines.
Description:
- Share duties primarily in the areas of championships and
marketing, combined with some administrative elements.

- Implementation of conference-based marketing programs

- Adminstrative duties may include but are not limited to:
assisting in the preparation of annual publications/directories;
monitoring volleyball, basketball, and baseball officiating
bureaus; database creation and upkeep, simple graphic design
(flyers, handouts, etc.); and other progjects as required.

Job Title: Marketing Internship
Brief Statement: The internship is a one to two-year,
full-time position, ending June 30th with a salary of $1,500/month.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Sales and
Marketing, the intern is responsible in assisting the department's
marketing, sales, promotions, and advertising for an individual
sport or sports and special events surrounding UCLA athletic
teams/events.
Description:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as
well as skills in working independently and following through
on assignments with minimal direction.
- Ability to demonstrate skills in conceptualization, development,
implementation, and review of multi-dimensional corporate
and marketing, sales, and promotional programs.
- Demonstrate creative abilities in generating innovative
ideas and exploring alternative approaches and solutions
to problems.
- Knowledge and experience of men's and women's athletic
events and procedures.
- Knowledge of Pac-10 conference and NCAA Championships.
- Display organizational skills as well as the ability to
prioritize and complete assignments in a manner accurately
reflecting the relative importance of job responsibilities
without constant supervision.
- Ability to work under time constraints and with conflicting
deadlines, frequent interruptions and distractions.
- Demonstrate the ability to supervise UCLA staff members,
student work force and a diverse group of volunteers, in
addition, to interacting effectively with coaches, student-athletes,
parents, administrators, and other staff.
- Demonstrate word processing and computer skills to complete
assignments with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of
various computer software systems including: Microsoft Office
and Lotus Notes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist witht he writing and implementation of a marketing
plan that will increase attendance, revenue and exposure
for an individual sport or sports.
- Work with head coach(es) and department staff members
in soliciting ideas while formulating the marketing plan
for an individual sport or sports.
- Indentify and implement new adversting and promotional
opportunities.
- Develop special events/promotions that will increase attendance
for an individual sport or sports that will increase the
visibility of UCLA's athletic teams.
- Develop and write newspaper and radio advertisements.
- Assist with special projects on an as-needed basis by
the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Brief Statement: The UAB Department of Athletics has
an internship opportunity in the Marketing and Promotions
Department. The internship is a 10-month paid position beginning
on or near July 15, 2002. The internship will provide excellent
experience in the area of marketing in a collegiate athletic
environment.
Description:
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Working knowledge of computers and computer programs, expecially
Microsoft Office, is a must. Knowledge of Quark is a plus.

for select Olympic sports.
- Game day assistant for football and basketball.
- Promoting UAB Athletics on campus and throughout the community.
