If you like to help those in need, including persons with disabilities, low income, non-English speaking and elderly taxpayers, have the ability to successfully meet and communicate with people from varied backgrounds and circumstances, take pride in performing tasks completely and accurately, and are willing to devote an average of 2 to 4 hours a week from late January through April 15 this program is for you. YMCA of Western Massachusetts Sexual Assault Services seeks mature dependable volunteers 21 years or older with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to provide immediate emotional support to survivors of sexual assault at local area hospital emergency rooms. Medical advocates receive sexual assault certification training prior to volunteering with on-going support and supervision by program staff. The Learning Center for Refugees
The Learning Center for Refugees is ready to begin on January 12, 2009 with 10 Burundi students, of whom only 3 speak English, at the Sumner Ave. Elementary School, 45 Sumner Ave., Room 134, Mon. - Thurs. from 3:40 - 5:00 p.m. The students are very smart and eager to learn. The difficulty is that they are placed in the public school system according to their age levels and there is a huge gap between what they are learning and what is expected of them at school. Admissions Representative
Candidates are sought for an Undergraduate Admissions Representative. This is a temporary position to be filled from approximately mid-August to the end of November. The successful candidate will travel about 10 weeks during this period visiting high schools, and representing the College at college fairs and other events.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to articulate the character and purpose of the College to prospective students, parents, and secondary school personnel. A Bachelor's degree, a valid driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record are required. No benefits are associated with a temporary position.
