a Safer World One Child At A Time
What is radKIDS….
A
nonprofit educational organization, radKIDS, Inc. is dedicated to
providing proven and effective life saving skills for children by
teaching them how to “Resist Aggression
Defensively.”
The program’s comprehensive Personal Empowerment
Safety Education curriculum, designed for children five through
11 years of age, is based on accelerated learning theory and realistic
physical resistance options to escape violence. Curriculum topics
range from Home and School Safety, to Out and About Safety, to Realistic
Defense Against Abduction as well as Good, Bad and Uncomfortable
Touch. Through radKIDS training, children become empowered and learn
to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations
with confidence, personal safety skills and self-esteem.

Missing Children....
In 2002, it was estimated that 797,500 children
are reported missing every year according to the United States department
of Justice. Most of these cases were not the "stereotypical"
abduction where a stranger or acquaintance takes the child and holds
him/her for ransom in a location at least 50 miles away.
From CBS news:
- A law enforcement survey found that 115 missing
children in the year studied fit the description of a stereotypical
kidnapping.
- In 40 percent of stereotypical kidnapping cases,
the child was killed.
- Nearly half of stereotypical kidnapping victims
were sexually assaulted.
- Ten percent of stereotypical kidnappings lasted
longer than 24 hours.
- At 69 percent, the majority of stereotypical
kidnapping victims were girls.
- Seventy-two percent of stereotypical kidnapping
victims were white.

Western New England College Cares About KIDS
radKIDS at Western New England College…
Western New England College and radKIDS have teamed
together to teach children how to protect themselves from violence.
In it’s commitment to community, Western
New England College has embraced radKIDS and has established a three-credit
college course for students who want to become radKIDS instructors.
These instructors can travel to your facility, or you can bring
your group to the regularly scheduled classes on the campus of Western
New England College. After just five, two-hour sessions (10 hours
of instruction), children will become more assertive and capable
of fending off harm.
