Solar Car Race

The annual solar car races sponsored by the Western New England College School of Engineering took place during a mild, sunny November day in the west parking lot of Sleith Hall. The races, as always, are free and open to the public. This year, WGGB-TV 40 conducted live interviews with Professor Steve Northrup and students on its morning newscast promoting the event.

The competition is an interdisciplinary senior lab project that
demonstrates the collaborative effort of Electrical, Computer, and
Mechanical Engineering students. In nine weeks, these teams of engineers move from feasibility studies to working prototypes.

The School of Engineering offers undergraduate programs in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical And Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and graduate programs in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, and Mechanical Engineering.
