New England College As a college star at the University of Connecticut, , Wendy Davis' passion for the game of basketball was second to none. Her hard work and dedication brought considerable success and the respect of her teammates and opponents. Davis brings the same qualities to her duties at Western New England College where she is now recognized as one of the top coaches in the region. Davis begins her sixth season on the Golden Bears sideline with an 86-47 record that are the most wins and highest winning percentage (64.7) in the program's 28-year history. Against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents, her teams have won 43 of 59 games for a remarkable 71.2 winning percentage. Last winter Davis directed Western New England College to a 16-10 record for the program's sixth straight winning season with only one senior in the starting lineup and eighth freshmen who played in 15 or more games. The Golden Bears also participated in the GNAC Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. Davis led her team to an 18-10 record during the 2002-03 campaign and a second-place showing in the GNAC Tournament that was its best showing ever in the post-season event. In 2001-02, the Golden Bears compiled a 20-8 record that tied the school record for wins in a season. The Golden Bears also advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament. WNEC capped one of the best seasons in school history by participating in the ECAC Division III New England Regional Tournament. Davis guided WNEC to a 16-10 record in 2000-01 and a tie for second place in the conference during the regular season. She led the Golden Bears to a 16-9 record in her rookie season (1999-2000) as her squad qualified for the their first GNAC Tournament. Davis top player at UConn A native of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, Davis is a 1992 graduate of the University of Connecticut where she was a four-year starter at shooting guard for the Huskies. Davis scored 1,552 points during her brilliant career that ranks seventh on the Huskies all-time list. She is first all-time in three-point field goal percentage (43.9) and second in three pointers made (279). Davis was a two-time Big East All Star and the Big East Scholar Athlete of the Year her senior season. Davis twice was named to the prestigious College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team. While at UConn the women's basketball program was 101-28 (.783) with Davis in the lineup and appeared in the NCAA Tournament all four years, reaching the Final Four her junior year. Davis completed her Master of Arts degree in education at UConn and served as an assistant coach under Geno Auriemma (her former coach) during the 1993-94 season. During the school year, Davis and her team members participate in various clinics and community projects, including National Girls and Women in Sport Day, and the "Save Our Kids" program in the city of Springfield. In addition to her coaching duties, Davis serves as an instructor in physical education at Western New England College. Davis is a 1988 graduate of Daniel Boone High School in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania where she remains the Berks' County girls scoring leader with 2,504 points.
