Final Report: Read about the Transformations
Campaign
’s Impressive Achievements Online

campaignfinalreportpic1.gifThe College community is invited to go online and read the Final Report of Transformations: The Campaign for Western New England College, along with the accompanying document, the Campaign Honor Roll of Donors, both of which can be accessed by visiting www.wnec.edu/campaign. The Final Report provides interesting data and exciting examples of how donors’ gifts, which amounted to more than $23 million, have transformed the College.

The Honor Roll of Donors is an inspiring summary of this unprecedented fundraising effort because it lists almost 8,500 contributors who represent a broad spectrum of both constituents and levels of gifts. Taken together, the Final Report and the Honor Roll show how this institution is moving forward with vision and purpose, with more financial aid available for families, better facilities for living and learning, and a stronger academic program for students. Begin Preparing for Your Career Now

“It is never too early in your college career to begin preparing for your professional career,” said Meghan Pfau Mancino ’05 (pictured on the left) at a First Year Business Seminar Alumni Panel on November 17. “Time really does move fast, and better to have some kind of plan formed rather than sit back and then say later on, ‘I wish I could have done this or that.’” (Read More)

“On October 18, 146 volunteers from the College traveled to 14 sites in the Springfield area and assisted with a variety of service projects, ranging from serving those who are homeless to painting a house through Habitat for Humanity,” says Rose Gage, service coordinator at the College’s Volunteer Connection Center. Pictured are students Ashley Peterson (left) and Megan Swanson helping run a Halloween party at the Gray House, a human service agency in Springfield’s North End. (Read More)

An Aerial View of Law School Construction in 1978

lawcenterwinterconstruct.gif

[See our historic photo archives.] The addition to—and renovation of—the Blake Law Center was completed in the summer of 2008, so we wanted to give you a bird’s eye look at the original construction of the building 30 years ago. The former entrance and lobby of the building, which faced Bradley Road, is at the lower left of the photo. That area is now the first floor of the library, with the old front steps replaced by a new exterior terrace. The new entrance and lobby, as well as the new wing, is on the other side of the building. In the background is Rivers Memorial Hall, which housed a gymnasium back then. (Read More)

[View our historic photo archives.] Above is the cover of a brochure about the McIlroy Fluid Network Analyzer, which in 1958 the College accepted as a gift from the Standard Time Electric Company. The College designed an air-conditioned room for the analog computer and engaged a Standard Time engineer to handle consulting work for the College using the computer. The engineer was successful: “Our first customer-user was the municipal water department of Stockholm, Sweden,” reported then-President Beaumont Herman.
